King of the North Basketball Tournament: A Slam Dunk for Talent and Empowerment!

The Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium in Tamale came alive with excitement and fulfilment as the Second Edition of King of the North Basketball Tournament wrapped up in grand style. Featuring the best teams from Upper East (Scorchers and Rockstompers Basketball), Upper West (Wa Basketball Club and Unicorns Basketball), and Northern Region (Avengers and Northern Rockets), the tournament showcased raw talent, thrilling action, and unmatched skills.

The grand finale saw Northern Rockets dominate the court, securing a well-deserved victory with 53 points against Upper East’s Rockstompers, who scored 38 points.

However, the tournament wasn’t just about basketball; it was also a platform for empowerment and education. Players were sensitised on crucial topics such as drug abuse, mental health, and other social vices, equipping them with tools to make positive life choices.

Victor M. Abu, Founder and Director of King of the North Foundation, urged the young players to remain focused and resilient in the face of peer pressure. He also expressed profound gratitude to KGL Foundation and all supporters, stating that their contributions were vital to the event’s success.

This tournament was more than a game—it was a movement to nurture talents, provide hope, and inspire the youth to aim higher. 🎉
